The mistake: I thought keeping shrimp was all about water quality.

What happened: Even when the water readings looked good, some shrimp did not thrive. I realised that water quality was only one part of the environment they needed.

How I fixed it: I began looking at the whole environment: the soil and its freshness, the sponge filters, tank stability, the type and amount of food, and how I grouped the animals so each tank had a clear role. Good water provides the foundation, and the rest of the setup builds on it.

Takeaway: Don’t just give shrimp clean water. Give them a home where they can thrive.
