I use a thin soil layer on purpose. The goal is simple: get nutrients out faster, cycle faster, get shrimp in faster, breed faster. Maximize time.
I prefer ADA soil because I’m used to it — familiarity matters when you run racks at scale.
Why thin, not deep

- Faster path to breeding tanks that actually produce
Farm note: Deep soil looks “safer.” Thin soil is a decision about speed and rhythm — if you accept that tanks have a work cycle.
What comes with it
Thin soil doesn’t last forever as a buffer. Around the six-month mark I expect nutrients and buffering to fade. That’s when I plan a soft reset — not because the tank is “dirty,” but because the soil’s job is done for that cycle.
